Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form of exercise originally created as a fighting art; it is a type of Qigong (also known as Chi Gung) practiced by millions of people worldwide every day. Qigong in Chinese means energy and breath. Tai Chi is practiced drawing upon Qigong (breathing, energy) techniques.
Although, Tai Chi was originally a Martial Art, it is mainly practiced today as an excellent form of exercise with many health benefits. It utilizes breathing, visualisations and gentle movements to work the entire body all at once; in essence it is a moving meditation for the mind, body and spirit. Tai Chi incorporates very natural movements using relaxation and breathing to help decrease stress, promote good health, longevity and internal strength and power. It is suitable for people of all ages and conditions.
